How to Keep Your Skin Clear & Brilliant
Here’s the perfect way to get your skin looking clear and brilliant. A brighter, smoother and more luminous complexion is obtained with just a few simple treatments. Our very happy patients have described their skin as being “illuminated” “ultra smooth” and “radiant”
Clear + BrilliantTM is a safe, non-ablative fractional laser that is considered the most gentle option of all resurfacing lasers. The quick 20-30 minute treatment is performed using a laser device with a small roller attachment. This roller gently glides across the skin that repairs from the inside out. The laser energy creates microscopic treatment zones beneath the surface of the skin, replacing damaged skin with healthy, more youthful skin. You can also choose to treat the décolleté and hands to help soften the appearance of brown spots and visibly improve skin texture.
Once the treatment is completed, skin permeability is greatly enhanced. We immediately optimize the treatment by applying a powerful antioxidant to penetrate deep into your skin. Post treatment some may feel as if there is a slight sunburn, which lasts only a few hours. To reduce any redness, help hydrate and promote healing, we provide a soothing Biocellulose mask to apply at home.
Rediscover your skin’s natural radiance and youthful glow with gentle and effective Clear + BrilliantTM treatments.

Stop Sweating With miraDry
Have you ever wished you could stop underarm sweat forever? Have you wished you could avoid putting chemical antiperspirants on your skin? Not to mention those annoying white marks and perspiration stains that ruin your nicely dry cleaned clothes!
Well there is a fast, easy and safe way to accomplish all of that as well as decrease or even eliminate underarm odor and wetness, permanently. miraDry is the solution.
miraDry is the only FDA approved treatment for underarm sweat. miraDry uses electromagnetic energy that has been used safely for years in other areas of medicine. The mirawave technology targets the sweat and odor gland just beneath the skin in the underarm area and effectively eliminates them forever.
One question we often hear is: doesn’t the body need to sweat? The short answer is yes; sweating is an important cooling function of the body, called thermoregulation. That said, the underarm area contains only 2% of the sweat glands in our bodies. The elimination of these sweat glands has shown to have no impact on overall thermoregulation.
This non-invasive treatment is not only painless but safe. The first step is a simple consultation to determine if you are a candidate for miraDry as all health conditions need to be considered.
The miraDry procedure is only performed in the physician’s office and typically takes one hour. Local anesthesia is administered before starting the treatment. Our patients report little to no discomfort during the procedure and often say they are comfortable. Additionally, there is minimal to no downtime afterwards. There may be some swelling and bruising of the treated area for a few days, which are effectively managed with ice packs and over the counter pain relievers if needed. Most of our patients are able to return to normal activities or work right after the procedure, and can typically resume exercise within several days.
miraDry uses a non-invasive handheld device to deliver precisely controlled electromagnetic energy beneath the underarm skin, specific to the sweat and odor glands, resulting in elimination of the sweat glands by heat. While the sweat glands are being eliminated through this electromagnetic energy, the top layers of the skin are simultaneously cooled and protected. Sweat glands are permanently eliminated with the treatment so the effects are seen immediately and results are lasting and often permanent.
Most patients need only one treatment but, in some cases, two procedures, spaced three months apart, are required for complete results.
This revolutionary treatment is not only quick, affordable and painless; it has changed the lives of so many of our patients, both men and women.
Ask The Experts: All About Moles
A mole is an abnormal collection of normal pigment cells. We all have pigment cells, throughout our skin, but there are locations where they collect abnormally, and that’s called a mole.
A mole itself becomes abnormal when those pigment cells change. These changes, in many cases, come from years of stimulation by the sun, which cause the changes we see in the mole.
What should I do if I notice a changing mole?
The first thing to do when you see a changing mole is to talk to your primary care provider. If you already have a dermatologist, see them to get an evaluation of that mole for a full understanding of what the change may represent.
What do the A-B-C-D’s of moles mean?
A is asymmetry; if a mole becomes asymmetrical.
B is for border changes; if you suddenly see a notch or a bulge in border of a mole.
C is for color variation.
D is for diameter change.
And now there is an added:
E for evolving, which means changing.
Can moles be harmful?
Moles can remain completely normal spots throughout one’s lifetime, but some moles can change and become irregular or atypical and some can become melanomas. A healthy respect for moles, and regular skin evaluations is essential.
How do I know which moles should be checked?
Whenever you notice moles changing in any way; color, shape, size, itching, or if it just concerns you, that is a great time to call your dermatologist for their expert evaluation.
What if I have a lot of moles?
Some people have numerous moles on their skin and that underscores the value of seeing a dermatologist. We have the experience to evaluate the various moles and determine which moles need our attention and which moles can be followed.
Will I be able to get a timely appointment to have my moles checked?
At South Shore Skin Center we, as a group, recognize the importance of being seen quickly and so we have created changes in our schedule that allow us to see people within a matter of weeks, and sometimes even more urgently for patients new or changing moles.
